Placards given out to interactive spectators at the firing of Russell in August 2005.

When I attended the Russell firing in August 2005, there was a really nice man handing out placards like these. I didn't get one, but I'm glad to see it on this site. The man was a white male between 60 and 70 years of age, and seemed to be affluent and of above average intelligence—probably a sign that he was well-educated. He was wearing gloves, which my husband and I found peculiar since it was August. He explained that he was a “frequent visitor” to county board meetings. He said that he could finally take a rest, though, since Tim Russell would no longer be dictating the county budget, after the Commission finished with him that day. I have a "NC Department of Common Sense Charter Member 2005" stick-on tag, though. And if I can borrow my sister's scanner, I'll send a copy of it to you next week. Keep up the good work! Carol
